Designed For Dual Chamber ATX Cases
The cool kids are all setting up their systems in dual chamber cases like the Lian Li O11 Vision or NZXT H6 flow. The problem is that the traditional design of PSUs don’t lend themselves to this style well, making it a challenge to keep your wiring neat. The purpose of a dual chamber case is to make your build look as clean as possible, so a traditional PSU is more hindrance than help. The Lian Li EDGE 1300W changes that, by sticking the power connectors on an extension on 90 degree angle from the body of the PSU. TechPowerUp found the new form factor to be effective in dual chamber cases, making hiding those cables much easier. Conversely the EDGE 1300W does not lend itself well to traditional cases, being awkward to deal with and in some cases having cabling which is unable to reach the edges of larger cases.
The power delivery is decent, a 10 year warranty doesn’t hurt nor does the fact it is an ATX 3.1 PSU. The new form factor does impact the price, which you should keep in mind. There are traditionally shaped PSUs that offer equal or better power delivery at a lower cost, and would be more suited to the cases we are used to. Check out the entire review here.
