This review is from: Corsair Builder Series CX V2 430-Watt 80 Plus Certified Power Supply Compatible with Intel and AMD Platforms – CMPSU-430CXV2 (Personal Computers)

I am an IT professional and have 4 desktops, 3 of them being in a lab environment, so when I fire up my lab, I have 3 PCs running which produces a lot of heat and uses a lot of electricity, so I decided to replace the 400W non-energy compliant power supplies with 4 of these. So far I have to give it 5 stars as I have not found any issues after about 2 months of use.

Runs quiet and cool and has enough connectors for my needs (4 SATA or less). The wires are shielded and thick, so they do look “cleaner” than if you have non-shielded wires, but I can see how they could be difficult to work with in a smaller case with little room. Also comes with tie wraps for the wires. I ran pre and post install power consumption tests using a P3 International Kill A Watt meter and the power consumption of these 430W power supplies was considerable less than with the previous power supplies (about 20-30{b81fbfd19e1fca5890798868c0714c408bbd5ec471654b6f9630c0fffa6e7eb3} on average).

The power output (430W) works fine for me on all 4 computers although I run only on-board graphics. The specs of my two highest power consumption PC are:

    — MSI mobo with AMD 965 Black Edition 3.4 GHz Quad Core(no OC), 4x2GB (8GB) OCZ Platinum DDR-800 latency of 4-3-3-12, 2x120mm 3-speed fans, 2xWD 300GB Velociraptors in a RAID 0 and a dual layer SATA DVD drive with Lightscribe
    — ASUS mobo with Intel Q9650 3GHz Quad Core(no OC), 4x4GB (16GB) OCZ DDR2-800 latency 5-5-5-18, dual 300GB Velociraptors in RAID 0, 2x80mm fans, and a dual layer SATA DVD with Lightscribe.

Both systems run Win 7 64 Enterprise with power settings on High Performance (needed for my IT testing and VMs) and I use stock CPU fans that come with the respective processor.

I believe that this PS would be sufficent for most people, but may not be enough for higher end systems such as dual processors (not to be confused with dual-core), high end graphics/dual graphics, more than 4 SATA devices, or high OverClocking situations in which the power draw is increased and there is a requirement for higher end cooling measures.

Well packaged, good length on cables, very quiet, comes with zip ties for the unused cables and strapping things down. Hopefully will last more than my previous supply, but Corsair has good reliability ratings.

    This is great!
No need to excess watts, this will hold up fine for most quad core PCs even with modern GPUs.
    Do some research, don’t overspend!
