Pros:Amazing board!!! Cons: High Defect Rate as delivered, May 28, 2012

PROS: This board is truly a great motherboard. The Z77 chip-set is in my opinion the best so far. Can run RAM at 2666mhz (G-Skill Trident X 2666). Quick and “snappy” as I like to call it. No secondary chips on the PCIe lanes to slow things down. On-board graphics on the new Ivy Bridge chips are amazing!! You almost don’t even need a discreet graphics card (almost).

CONS: VERY HIGH “DOA” and defect rate as delivered “new” I do not blame Amazon for this, I hold Asus and their lack of in-house quality control responsible. It has and is becoming to much the norm for companies like Asus and other computer manufacturers to use the RMA process, Warranty/return process at the purchasers expense and frustration instead of in house quality control. I believe I am now on my 5th or 6th board from Amazon. Have had to return/exchange all except for one of these motherboards because of operational defects as new. One board did not register the RAM frequencies correctly and spit out a 9 digit reading instead of the regular 4 digit. Two boards would not work at all, or would work partially. Digital display would not work on one, another would not boot regardless of power supply, CPU *(tried many which worked on other boards). Two boards came with physical damage (plastic surround broken/cracked on the clear Cmos button) The latter I would not consider a return worthy issue however, this was present on two of the boards with other problems which warranted return in and of themselves.

Looks like the latest board (so far) is running and operating as it should be. Simply amazing board when it works!!! (and I have many builds) from P67, Z68, X-79 so on and prior builds going back to the 90’s.

I use Amazon exclusively now because of their wonderful customer service and liberal exchange/return policy. I am a lifetime customer because of it. (Keep up the great work Amazon!!) I have been burned by other companies namely one which has to do with chickens (eggs) and another with Tigers. (cant name names) But you get my drift.

Manufacturers especially Asus WAKE UP you are going to lose customers hand over fist if you do not clean up your act concerning what has become an inherent lack of quality control. Your products are amazing when they work, however, who wants to go through 6 duds before they finally receive a working board? The customers and Amazon are paying the price. AGAIN I AM NOT BLAMING AMAZON, THIS IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM.

Also, for the life of me and after many many motherboard purchases, I do not understand,` why do motherboards not come factory sealed?

Word to the wise, only purchase computer motherboards and the like from Amazon. Otherwise your stuck with what you purchase working condition or not. (Asus RMA and support is among the worst in my opinion, you do not want to deal with them)

Simply amazing motherboard!!! (when you get one that works)

Worked out of the box. No problems with build. I’m not a gamer, I’m using it for photoshop, but I’m very please.
The component selections are first rate ( yes, I’m a computer engineer). All the connectors are solid. Good spacing around the CPU. Solid power supply parts, good heatsinks. No traces too near screw holes, a pet peeve of mine.
The unique feature is that the board and bios are well documented. What an unexpected plus. The manual is as good as anything gets in the PC world. Keep up the good products, and manuals.

Contrary to the other 1 star review i read, i personally had an AMAZING experience with using this motherboard. I just built my first build and wanted to find a motherboard that had reliability and a name to back it. This thing has done great so far, the only issue i have had so far was out of the blue the computer started to blue screen when running starcraft 2. For some reason my memory settings were changed from DDR3 1600 to DDR1333. I do not know why that happened but it did and caused blue screens. It took one single dive into the BIOS and problem was easily fixed. The UEFI BIOS integrated into this MOBO make your life a whole lot easier when trying to tweak with your settings. All in all, i am very happy with this ROG board and i would suggest it over and over again. All i say to anybody trying to figure out what motherboard to purchase, just figure out what you will ACTUALLY USE features wise, search customer service reviews and buy based on that because motherboards are of an industry that is guaranteed to have at least one bad motherboard out of a single batch. If you go with a company with a good track record with customer service, your life will be easier because you did your customer service research instead of (“what is the best gaming motherboard”).
